Getting gluten-free right

Online training for caterers

Health Sector

Welcome to the Coeliac UK online catering training module for the health sector.

Our health module is designed specifically for catering staff who work in hospitals, residential and care homes who have patients, residents or visitors that must follow a gluten-free diet.

Why you should take the course?

Hospitals
When in hospital, it is necessary for individuals to be able to follow a gluten-free diet. Following the recent announcement by the Secretary of State for Health on the introduction of mandatory Hospital Food Standards from April 2015 it is essential that catering staff should be trained in allergen management, including the gluten-free diet.  Catering teams should be proficient in the provision of allergen information, the risks of cross-contamination and cleaning methods to ensure food is safe for patients with coeliac disease.

By taking our training we can help you improve the care of patients with coeliac disease and assist you in achieving the new standards.

Care, Nursing and Residential Homes
Care, nursing and residential homes, have a duty of care to provide for the needs of their residents.
Our training can help you understand how to cater for residents who have coeliac disease or are gluten intolerant and how you can manage this practically.

If you are interested in training a large number of staff or want to personalise a module unique to your hospital or other healthcare establishment please contact cateringtraining@coeliac.org.uk or 01494 796727 for more information. We can also offer discounts for those wanting to train 11 or more staff so please get in touch.
